Practicing in Quebec
To obtain a temporary restrictive permit or a full permit (foreign lawyers or jurists) to become a member of the Barreau du Québec and be authorized to practice law in Quebec, you must apply for equivalence.
Before applying for equivalence to become a lawyer in Quebec, please read the Information Document for Applications for Equivalence Recognition by Foreign Lawyers or Jurists.
You must then complete the Application for Equivalence Recognition by a Foreign Lawyer or Jurist and return it to the Barreau together with the relevant documents.
For the purpose of diploma equivalence, a list of courses recognized by the Equivalences Committee of the Barreau du Québec is available.
